Several times in the past couple of months, I've been watching a recording and the playback stops, as in the end of the recording. Sometimes it stops 20 minutes into a show, sometimes the last 15 minutes are cut off. One time it only played the first 2 minutes. The recordings list shows a full hour, but the whole show is not there. I have a 722k. Any ideas?

Be sure the receiver is rebooted once a day.
Check under Menu+6+3+Counters+PgUp several times.
Page 2 has Last Connect, Page 4 has Last status update, Page 11 has Fsck (File System ChecK).
The Fsck is the important one.
You can force a reboot with the front-panel power button--start from off and hold for say 10 sec.
Or pull the power cord.
Or you can set the reboot time in Menu+8+4 to as little as 2 min from now. Check your clock.
Remember to reset reboot time to the least disturbing one after you are done.
If there is no reboot for say 48 hours, you are likely to have troubles.
(What to do about when the Fsck is in the future somehow, as happened to me?)

Here's a whole thread about the problem.

It seems Dish usually suggests replacing the DVR. However I had about a month old new DVR replaced with another new DVR and had the same problem occur about a week later. At one time Dish told me it this was corrected in a firmware release, yet it still occurs randomly to random people. On one hand Dish says firmware problem (or was) & on the other hand they say hardware problem. It's a shame they can't figure it out.

Interesting thread. Thanks, Mike.
And, Ken, I'll check those settings when I get home tonight.

I just ran across a guy over on the AVS forum whose recording of the latest Warehouse 13 cut off at exactly the same spot my recording cut off. Could it be program related?
