Clicking receiver

I've got a 2700 receiver in my office I watch the NASA channel on. It is unsubscribed, unregistered, and gets only NASA and the few other Dish promo channels, which is what I want.

About every 90 minutes or so, I hear a click from the receiver, like a relay operating. It does not seem to affect operation, and nothing changes in any of the menus. It just seems a bit weird. Any ideas on what is happening?

Hmm. It's definitely a click, not more of a "snap" sound? If it's like a snap, maybe it could be an inevitably failing power supply (arcing transformer, funny capacitor, etc.).

The "click" would be the receiver checking for dialtone. If its checking that often it almost sounds like it wants to phone home for some reason.

Ah, I should have guessed that receiver had a modem.
