I've been on 1.5 Mbit Clearwire wireless broadband here in central MN for about a year with pretty good results.
Presently, they offer service to anyone within 5 miles of their towers. I'm on the fringe and still receive a very good signal with the NextNet modem sitting on a shelf in my house.
As with any start up technology, we've had some minor glitches and I'm told they were all human error when they've been turning up the network. The lead tech and I are alumni from the same electronics school so I get my info from the source.
My biggest gripes are slow upload speed (256k) Their main website is months behind in areas served and so-so customer service if you call the 800 number.
For $43/mo I'm satisfied.
