Yes, I'm sure they will map it down as well. They might not turn the mapdown on immediately, but if that is the case I'm sure it will be shortly after launch. From what I hear they are getting good feedback on the downmapping so far.
Totally uncalled for and unecessary. Your arguement would make more sense to me the other way around (if you subscribed to a particular premium channel like Cinemax but did not subscribe to HD, but had an HD receiver, and wanted the HD channel included). As it is now I think you need to subscribe to both the premium channel and HD to get the HD Premium (not 100% sure as I sub to both).
lakebum431, you just need to subscribe to the Premium package to get the HD version. I had HBOHD and StarzHD before getting the HD package.
It would be nice if they offered a way to purchase just the HD versions of the channels, though. I never watch the SD versions of the movie channels at all, so to get the HD movie channels I want I'm also having to pay for the SD channels I don't ever watch. I know this won't happen, just wishful thinking.
You have to pay separately for the movie channels and also for the HD package which includes the movie channels you subscribe to. You wouldn't pay any less to only get the HD version.
I guess you can consider it a bonus that you're getting both??
The HD versions of the movie channels are included with the movie channel subscription.
If you have a subscription to HBO, but not the HD pack, you still get the HD version of it.

Not sure I will abandon my 4DTV cinemax sub for one HD feed and only 5 SD channels that probally don't look all that great.
Why doesn't DISH offer both east and west feeds? I told the wife about it and then we looked at the guide on the 211 and she wasn't to impressed with the channel count that DISH is offering. But will see.

Take up the issue of the HD premium channels with HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and so on, not with Dish. Given that every provider I know of operates the same way in regards to these channels, i.e. if you subscribe to HBO, HBO-HD is included, I'd say this part of the deal is NOT from Dish. Safe to say, none of those companies offer their HD channels separately (or if they do, they price it to eliminate any interest).

They do not offer west feed, becuase it would be a waste of bandwith. With DVR you do not need west feed.

Happy to hear we will be getting this new HD channel. I have been waiting for it since losing it when VOOM went down.

Your HD channel availibilty mirrors your package type. As they say, ante up for the "Everything" pack and enjoy with the rest of us!

I also never watch the SD versions of the movie channels.....its just disturbing to see movies is SD once you have watch HD movies.
I know its almost impossible but it will be great if they (HBO, SHO, Starz) offer the HD channels separate from the other SD ones.
I dont think its E* intention....but the deal they have with each premium movie channel.
I occasionally check both versions out to compare audio and video drops. I recorded one short program several times in HD, this was an upconverted program, and it had transmission errors at the same points in 3 recordings. In SD there were no problems. What's up with that???????????????
Nice argument, but I don't think its persuasive. I purchase access to the HD channels, and if I am a subscriber to HBO, Starz, Showtime, or Cinemax, I get the respective HD channel.
