ChillerHD

You guys are real buzz killers!

I had just managed to not think about MonstersHD when I looked at a Chiller movie.

I think if Chiller could do a Uncut and commercial free (During Movies only) channel I would be happy with that. I mean thats what IFC does, commercials are before and after movies.

On July 23rd, 2008 Variety reported that Sleuth, Universal HD, and Chiller are moving from Los Angeles to New York; when the channels movement is complete, Sleuth and Universal HD will report to USA Network, while Chiller will report to SCI FI.

UniHD is actually a pretty decent channel, even with the commercials. USA will ruin it.

Does anyone know when or if it is going HD. The "HD coming soon" is no longer on the website. I posted in a couple of areas on the Chiller forums and nobody seemed to know if it was still going to launch this month or if it had been postponed yet again:confused:

Did you guys notice THIS:

That probably means that CHILLERHD has been canceled for now. It also means that once Sciffy gets ahold of programming for it, they'll trash it for sure, and we'll end up with a Sciffy clone, and more WCF rasslin', and cheesy new movies with CRAP cgi. (As opposed to old movies, with crappy old-school effects!)

And/Or they show half of all the series, and then put them on hiatus for a year, before showing the second half! :D:D
That is sad news. Scifi HD is loaded with SD programming. So even if we get Chiller HD it will 75% SD.

The article he is quoting about the move to Sci-Fi control does not mention anything about postponing the HD version. Also since all are owned by NBC it's no surprise about the commercials, etc. My thinking is, if it goes HD is that I will be able to get it on my HD only pack and it will be on MPEG 4 which (in my opinion) looks much better the MPEG 2. However, as I stated, I cannot find out anything about when or if it will launch this month. It has already been postponed 3 different times. A news release would be nice.:D

I am with you on that one, I did notice some of the movies but there are no marathons that are all horror like Monsters had.

Don't forget stuff like the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade and that Halloween party at the Heffner Mansion.

There is no other channel that gives you all Michael Meyers on Halloween and Jason Voorhees on Friday the 13th.

Without MonstersHD, I feel I am stuck in a never ending Nightmare on Elm Street! Somebody please wake me up!!

I hear you on that. I'm not sure we will ever get a horror channel like Monsters again. I can't believe the a$$es at Voom don't wake up and try to market Monsters by itself. I have to think it would do okay.

It's been a few months since I checked out Monsters schedule. Damn, their October schedule is awesome. New movies such as Pet Sematary, Jeepers Kreepers, and all the classics. They also have My Bloody Valentine. Never did catch that one in HD.

At least after months of MonstersHD not showing up elsewhere, many of you have finally realized that Dish wasn't the only one to kill it. Voom has failed to market even their most successful channel to other providers.

I think we have a little bit of "revisionist history" going on in this thread. I used to like MonstersHD too but it really took a nose dive when 1) they started repeating the same movies ad nauseum and 2) they stopped showing the classic Universal monster movies (Dracula, Wolfman, etc.)

In a perfect world I would like to see a channel with uncut, commercial free movies like MonstersHD but with less repeats and some horror tv shows like Tales From The Crypt, Hitchcock Presents, etc. mixed in.

Started? They always did this, that was THE problem!

See here is my gripe. And I promise not to spread it all over the board, only when necessary, hehe.

I subscribed to Dish in April and I only subscribed to Dish for Monsters HD. At the time, they did show some repeats but it was tolerable, especially with having a DVR. So I was living high off the hog watching horror until they had a disagreement. Now I'm stuck in a 2 year contract with very little to watch. If Dish hadn't turned on CNN HD I would have nothing to watch.

From November 2007 till March 2008 they only did 2 or 3 movies repeated every day. I didn't like that too much either. In April 2008, they got better. Sure there were still repeats but not as bad as during the time frame I mention above.

I have been looking at the schedule every once in awhile too. It is now better than ever!

Someday I think we will have it back and so will everyone who gets stuff like SciFi, HBO and whatever. It will be a premium channel and I will be happy to pay for it.

Yep, as long as the repeats are kept down I would pay $5.00 per month faster for this channel than Cinemax for a penny for a year. Do you hear me Charlie?

I am with you man, I would pay money in a hurry for this channel, I just want it back but I doubt now that it will happen. Who knows whats going on I wish we knew something like if they are trying to work something out with another company or they will come back.
