What's the difference in checking the "Alternate" box and not checking it when you do a Check Switch?

In what configuration would you use it? Just curious.

Alternate does 50 steps (instead of 38) in a Legacy environment.

Its mainly used for Hillbilly (Non Dish Pro) Superdish configurations.

Example…I hooked up an old DirecPC dish and aimed it at 121. The DPC dish had 110 & 121 hooked with a SW21

-Check switch only gave me 110
-Superdish it locked up
-Alternate worked fine..did 50 steps and gave me 110 even & odd and 121 even & odd

I have a DP Quad + DP Dual and a DP34 switch, it doesn't make any difference if I check it or don't check it. So I guess you are right Iceberg, it's more likely for Legacy configurations.

I was just curious because in that new Dish Support site that Scott posted a few days ago, they have the interactive menus for all the receivers. When I went through the 501 menus to "check switch", it's not checked but when I go through the 311 menus it's checked.

I think ALternate is really for Legacy setups. I know when I hooked up 110/119 & 148, it did 50 steps when I had that checked. Without it, it does 38 (normal legacy does 38)

Am i reading my bill correct?
