Trying to see if I can reduce the monthly bill ... currently at AT120 (64.99).. no discounts.

Could drop to Dish America (save $15).. but we'd lose Disney.. and anyone with kids will know that is big trouble... I called and was told there is a kids package ($15)... DA + KP would be the same price at AT120.. with a small delta in the channels (slightly better mix for the kids) ... dropping all the way to the Welcome Pack is a step too far for the adults. and the Smart Pack is just a completely different set of channels from what we watch.

Pretty sure I've gone thru the combinations, just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything.

thanks
Mike

What about Dish Latino Plus ($47.99/month)? It has USA, SyFy, and Disney XD. Here is a channel list: https://www.mydish.com/filestream.ashx?ID=11517&inline=true

Looks like some of the main channels you get are:
AMC
beIN Sports
Boomerang
Cartoon Network (East)
Cartoon Network (West)
Disney XD
El Rey
Fuse
Fusion
RT
Syfy
TBS
Weather Channel
USA
Velocity
WE TV
Dish CD 950-981
I believe you also receiver the Sirius XM channels although not listed on the channel lineup card

We used to have Dish Latino Dos which I believe is the same price as AT120.

I am just curious what channels are in the kids package. I currently have Welcome Pack, so it would almost double my bill, but are there any worthwhile channels in that package? Also, is the kids package available as a replacement for Welcome Pack (which would lower my bill by $5 per month) or is it only available as an add-on?

I believe you can only get it from an "account specialist" (similar to the Welcome package I believe).. its $15/mo.. Disney/Jr/XD/West, Bommerang, Cartoon/West, Animal Planet. An insulting (for being in 2016) portion of those are not in HD... but we lowered our bill $30/month by dropping to Welcome + Kids, and the kids don't seem to care about SD.

I can stream SyFy from their website. USA requires a verification from your cable provider, so I won't be watching their shows anymore I guess.

I wish we had a thread here that described all these packages that are only available from CSRs. It would be good to know.

I think $15/month seems high for that amount of channels. I mean I could see like $5 or maybe $6.
$15 per month seems about right if it is available as a stand-alone package. (In other words, if you can drop Welcome Pack and still get the local channels with the Kids Package.) Otherwise, I agree. $15 per month is sort of high for an add-on, unless it includes more channels than the ones zim2dive listed.

According to the CSR, it is just those channels for those who want more family channels. It appears to be an add-on or a la carte option for $15 more a month. I was hoping it included more channels like possibly the Viacom channels like Nick Jr.

For that price, I'd expect it to include the Viacom kids channels.

Yes, there are many VIacom chanels that could fit in that package like Nick, Nick (W), TeenNick, Nicktoons (Network), Nick Jr., and possibly even TV Land. While it may not contain the same channels, SlingTV has a similar add-on but for $5/month. Maybe it if it were closer to $5/month I would consider it.

Okay, thanks. Until this thread, I had never even heard of the Kids Package. It does not help that Dish does not list this option under My Programming on my online mydish account. (Of course, they have never listed Welcome Pack as a core package there, either.)

I agree. While I am glad that these options are available, I do not get why Dish is so secretive about them. I think they could retain more subs or even new subs and even get more money from subs who may be interested in these.

According to zim2dive's earlier post, quoted below, it looks like the kids package includes Disney East, Disney West, Disney Jr, Disney XD, Cartoon Network East, Cartoon Network West, Boomerang, and Animal Planet. Since zim2dive also has Welcome Pack, I am wondering if the kids package also includes any other Welcome Pack channels (Boomerang is included in Welcome Pack) or any other channels not listed in that post.

Its hard to understand the exact mix of channels in the Kids Pack.. ie. not sure there is *any* core package where there isn't at least 1 channel of overlap.

On it's face this is not a bargain... but again, we dropped from AT120, so it was a net $30 savings for us, and keeps the kids happy.

(a bit OT, but) I have to say we are looking HARD at the Playstation vue ... all the channels we want.. $30/mo... 5 TVs. I'll happily pay a 1-time fee to get the needed hardware (ie. fireTV, AppleTV).

Remote SAT button not lighting up, remote not turning on Sat feed

Netflix on H3 looks so much better...
