Channel 9900 & 9901

Can anyone tell me the purpose of these channels? One says congradulations on your dish 500, the other same for the dish 1000.

Originally there was only the one for Dish 500. There are also a couple others, e.g. one for 61.5. They don't take much capacity and confirm that various dishes are working.

The following channels are used for satellite reception verification

101 - 119° "Dish Network Neighborhood" looped instructional program (full channel bandwidth.
7000 - 105° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish pointed at 105°
9900 - 110° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish 500
9901 - 129° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish 1000
9902 - 61.5° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish pointed at 61.5°
9903 - 118° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish pointed at 118°
9904 - 148° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish pointed at 148°
9905 - 121° Static Slate & Music: Contratulations you have a Dish pointed at 121°

The static slates and music use up only a small portion of bandwidth a "regular" channel would take up and save a ton of trouble in diagnosing reception issues.

See ya
Tony
