Something definitely happened. I thought it was a fluke late last night but look:

8 seconds to generate a page?

The site slows down, then it seems to jump back up in speed again. Well it seems to, but it seems like just some pages take a long time. Looking at the times at the bottom of the page mose do it in 1-2 tenths of a sec. Is it someones avatar or signature causing this? I am attaching a list of slow pages while I surf for information. It also seems to forget sometimes where you were in a thread so when looking at new posts you get thrown back to the first post.

I have been doing some work to the server including some big database dumps (which are in the Gigabit range) and that would have caused the issue you were seeing.
