Celtics/Cavs- King James vs. K.G. (I can smell the ratings now!)

HD MM,

I hate to say this to you, since you're a friend of mine and I like you a lot as a SatelliteGuys member,

but I think your Cavs might have some favorable and ticky-tack calls.

The refs might have blown a call on what could have possibly been goaltending in the final minute, and I think LeBron might have flopped on that offensive foul late in the game.

If anything, I think the refs maybe favored the Cavs tonight ala the Lakers in Game 5 against Utah.

Also, could we have a likely repeat of last year's East and West Finals, as well as, this could still happen- a Spurs/Cavs rematch? (That would be ironic and I think many people besides you and me and some others would hate that)

Lets not bring the refs in this now, especially since they blew ALOT of calls in Boston. Lets GO CAVS!

Lets go Celts! Its time to send the King to his throne..........in the outhouse baby.

I feel bad for the Celts, their road games between Cleveland and soon to be Detroit couldnt be in dumpier places!

Then again every city cant be like "heaven", I mean Boston!

:D:D:p:p:up:up

Time to put the women and children to bed an then start lookin' for dinna :hungry::hungry:

Only we in Detroit are allowed to say that. Go wash yo cah. Boston isn't so great.

Waiting for HD MM to give his thoughts on this game...

Sorry, don't get on these boards much on the weekends........

Anyways, Game 6 was indeed ugly for both sides. Fortunately, my Cav's were on the winning side. LeBron did carry the team when it mattered most and ended up with 32pts, 12reb and 6ast.

But after reflecting on the real reason why we won, you need to look no further than the following stats: Cav's outrebounded the Celts 45-37. The Celtics had more turnovers: 17, compared to the Cav's 14. And the Cav's got to the line more while being efficient with these opportunities: 21 of 25 compared to the Celtics 11 of 13.

As for game 7, the Cav's will indeed be entering a hostile environment where the Celtic's haven't lost yet at home during the Playoffs. The Cav's however, have the biggest X-factor in LeBron James. If he can carry us down the stretch and keep it close at the end, I like our chances. We need to continue to do the little things that contribute to a win, such as out rebound, get to the line and keep our turnovers to a minimum by being smart with the ball.

All the pressure is on the Celtics. We got them right where we wan them! Let's go Cav's!

Well, THAT was a good game.

I have a LOTof thoughs on this game for HD MM:

1. LeBron finally went off. VERY impressive.

2. Unfortunately, Cleveland could not handle 'The Truth,' and they suffered the consequences.

3. The role players really determined the outcome- P.J. Brown did a nice job in the fourth, but the Big Z disappeared- he didn't contribute, and he lost that important jump ball.

4. Like Game 6 of the Lakers-Jazz series, free throws were SO CRUCIAL!

5. How about that crazy bounce on Pierce's free-throw? Shades of Don Nelson in '69!

Great game and quite possibly, an instant classic. I didn't realize this until the beginning of the game. Correct me if I am wrong, but because the Celtics had the best record in the league, they will have homecourt advantage THROUGHTOUT the playoffs.....they statistically DO NOT NEED to win an away game to become NBA Champions......

You are correct. I don't know if the finals works that way or not though.

Great game indeed. Unfortunately, the Celtics seemed to get all of the "lucky bounces" towards the end. ;)

Quick story........

As I mentioned before, I had a Greek wedding to attend yesterday. The reception started at 6pm, so I got to see/listen to the first 3 quarters in the comfort of my own home before we had to go into the hall. My wife and I arrived early to scope out the bar and make sure there would be some sort of media device to give us game-time updates. Luckily, tucked in the corner of the bar, there was a small (13" at most), tube TV!!!! I was one of the first to discover this and by the end of the game, there was a massive crowd huddled around this 13" TV, shouting, cheering and sighing towards the end. The reception didn't officially begin until the game was over since everyone in the bridal party was huddled around the TV too.

Midway during the "lamb dance" and the "bread dance", I forgot all about the day's earlier disappointment. (If any of you have been lucky enough to attend a Greek Wedding, you know what I mean). It was definitely a unique experience to say the least........

It remains through the finals, where the Pistons will have home court advantage, as soon as we finish off Boston.

Yep.

Except in the NBA Finals, the games are seeded differently than the previous 7 game series' rounds that are seeded HH, AA, H, A, H.

The seedings for the NBA Finals are as follows....

Game 1: West vs. East
Game 2: West vs. East
Game 3: East vs. West
Game 4: East vs. West
Game 5: East vs. West
Game 6: West vs. East
Game 7: West vs. East

We ate Newark for breakfast. Boston is on the menu for lunch. See you at the Gahden. (What do you guys do with all those r's you drop? Give them to the South ? - "I'm fixin' to warsh my car.")

Yeah umm all this about the r's, dont you know, r's are silent. Its like the k in knife or the p in pnemonia.

I just pray for the good people of Detoit that the Pistons dont win. Every time you win a championship, cars are flipped and burned, and riots envelope the city!

Lets just all hope that Detroit doesnt win.

Study: 96-Percent of Boston Sports Fans Have No Idea How Annoying They Are

"Due to an overwhelming inferiority complex stemming from decades of playing second fiddle to New York, the study found that Boston fans are woefully lacking in knowledge of how to respectfully conduct themselves when one of their teams actually wins. But worse, they revel in their boorish behavior and seem to find more enjoyment in flaunting their good fortune in the faces of others than they do in sincerely celebrating and relishing their teams’ achievements."

according to wikipedia home court still goes to the team with the best record. I have no idea if that is true though. The wikipedia reference was the only one that was specific and they are somewhat unreliable. Does anyone know for sure?

FWIW I did find this article saying Detroit has home court if they make it http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080416/sports03/804160427

Yes, Regular season records still determine home court in the NBA Finals.

My point was that the only difference is the format of the best of 7 series.

Instead of a 2-2-1-1-1 format, the Finals are played in a 2-3-2 format.

But don't Boston and Detroit have better records than anyone in the West? your post says The West has home court and the original questionwas whether the psitonns would ahve home court----and they will if they make it that far.

We could have ANOTHER Preakness/NHL debacle

Why I think baseball is a better game now than in the old days
