cell phone only directv?

Hello, we have directv and get NFL sunday ticket...can we get rid of our house phone and somehow hookup the cell phone or something. so we don't have to keep our house phone? HELP PLEASE

i do not know if it will work but they do sell kits to hook cell phone up to a modenm like if you have a laptop for connecting to internet best buy sells them

I've had DirecTV for 7 years, disconnected the phone from the STB 6 years ago and have happily received premium sports content such as NBA Season Pass for 4 years and just subscribed to NFL package. So clearly, a phone line isn't needed for getting reception.

Other than ordering PPV movies, I honestly don't know why DirecTV tells people to have a phone line connected to the STB.

Anybody know exactly what DirecTV uses that phone line for?

Fraud protection. Helps them know you aren't sharing your signal with your neighbors and that the box you're using is actually in the house you claim it's in.
