CEDIA Expo 2005: Day One

It's been a busy first day at CEDIA Expo!

DirecTV had a stylish booth design: transparent display with just receivers and monitors. Not a single dish!

They were displaying the following components:

- DirecTV D11 receiver (SD). Expected in first quarter 2006.

- DirectTV Plus DVR (model R15). A TiVo replacement.

- DirecTV HD Receiver (model H20) with MPEG-4 decoder. Expected within 3 weeks!

They also had a DVR Client Server on display, but that was just a prototype. Even feature list is not yet finalized.

Dish was showing new toys! Three versions of PocketDish: ranging from $350 to $600 (prices not official yet). Two of them are expected early October, the third one (AV500E) a week or two later. All three can also be used as MP3 music players, as USB drives and can display photos.

Also on display they had their MPEG-4 HD receiver (411), Q-BOX and Dish 1000 dish.

It's an Olympus which is actually due for an upgrade.

Some photos were taken in hurry and are somewhat out of focus, but I posted them anyway.
