CD ROM and Zip Drive dissapear from my PC

Hey,

before re-installing xp I like to know if anybody knows a quick solution; On Sunday my PC was working fine. On Monday or Tuesday evening I turn it on and my cd-rom and zip-drive are gone. I can still see my two harddrives. Any solutions?

I would uninstall the drives in safe mode and then boot up and see if you recognize them as new hardware.

Sorry for not getting back and thanks for your suggestion Geronimo. I was really upset about the drive dissapearing. I was about to format the drive and saw that the cd-rom was also missing from the cmos. I opened up and checked the connections and nothing was loose. Well to make a long story short, I came back to it one night with the decision to take it apart and reformat everything. After I booted, there it was the cd-rom looking at me. Don't know what brough it back or what made it dissapear!
