VCII was scheduled to end in October, 2010. Read this thread in C-Band:
Yuck!

That's what I'm afraid of is my module might want to start dropping acid. I don't remember ever changing the battery or even getting a new board since I bought this back in '92.

Finally removed mine. The last thing it decoded was the Weather Channel last year just to see it still work. The last time I used it on a regular basis was a few years ago when Showtime was still open on G5-24. I normally watch my local OTA weather anyway.

I guess now would be a good time to replace the 922 battery. I should have done it prior to Dec 26th but didn't really know about it. If I goof this up, am I going to loose all of my satellite tiles, or will I still have the original tiles but not the newest ones? And if I do goof it up, I should still be able to redownload the X4 satellite by following the appropriate directions on TvroPro's web sight or will it even be any good? I think this is a 2001 receiver.

Read this thread this am and then checked on my 920 that I've been using as a dish mover and for T4, GB410 etc and now I got nothing. Before I had the correct X4 map as 216 gave me DC lock and DMX audio was up on 900+ but now I got no DC lock on X4 216 and got no DMX audio on those 900 channels. NO T4 or GB stuff either.

So I did an "unplug" the cord reboot and left it sit on X4216 for about 3 hours and still nothing.

Question is, am I suppose to have anything on this thing now or is what it's doing considered to be "normal" after the keys expired?

My keys expired last night & all my tiles are still in place. All subs say I need authorization. I have a channel count of 4767. The X4 satellite tile is still in place, & I'm receiving the music channels on X4 in the 900's. I haven't done the conversion yet but going to in a couple days after I replace the battery. I have no DC lock on any satellite but I'm sure this is normal for there is no more 4096 signal. I don't know if this helps or not.

Are you sure that your even on X4, to me it sounds like either your on the wrong one or maybe your servo motor might be bad. Just a guess!

Newbie here. Been reading, reading and rereading posts here since signing up in December and have learned a lot. Also have been confused from time to time. I've been surfing the skies since 1985. Like a lot of folks I lost my subs last night. This morning I disconnected my 2006 DSR922 and pulled the VCII module out. Reconnected the unit and checked my channel count and TDT. The channel count was at 4767 and the TDT was 1920. I checked the ZK and FP channels and they were there. I then surfed around and am still getting a DC lock on the previously subscribed channels with the message 'This channel not available'. I had followed TVROPRO's recommendation and had already gotten the correct X4 and channel map prior to the end of last year. I also signed up to Websams at the same time. After reconnecting and checking everything I went to X4 216 and had a DC lock and a subscription message. I followed TVROPRO's instructions to convert and then went online to Websams, ordered and activated programming and had programming instantly. The guide loaded correctly. I surfed again and still have all of the FP and ZK channels as before, still have all of my tiles and still have a DC lock on my previous subs. I was a little concerned with a TDT of 1920 but so far it seems to have been flawless. Hopefully it will continue that way. Big thanks to TVROPRO and everyone else involved in this transition. Looking forward to any additional channels that may be added.

I made a mistake. I still have a DC lock. But no subscriptions. Sorry about that.

Like all hold-outs my 922 went dark yesterday.

I do have the correct X4, but decided at the last minute to decom the 922 (temporarily, hopefully!) instead I hooked up a 410.

The 410 works for me and the missus for now, not having to wait for the guide is a biggie and of course flexibility over programming and $$$

No doubt I'll convert the 922 at some stage.

Well, I just fired that 920 back up, then went to 91W to catch some fx FTA and saw a DC light on the front on GB 23?? Went to X4 216 and Got DC light there too??? looks like whatever the problem was it healed itself.

Replacing the battery is a project. You will take apart quite a bit of the receiver. If you shooting sparks don't do anything until you remedy that situation. Barefoot is the easiest way to stop electrostatic buildup
or a grounding strap. Remember being grounded is dangerous when working on electronics. One shot at the motherboard from your fingertip will dork the board. There are excellent instructions from tvropro on doing this. One thing is once you get the new battery connected get the old one out but fast as it can discharge the new battery if it is low. Check the old one for low voltage before you proceed. Make sure to organize everything you take apart so all the different screws go back where they belong. You will need small torx screwdrivers for some of the work. If you have a use for the VC2 board do the battery on that as well. Practice soldering on some junk board first if you are unsure of you skills.

Thanks Asket. I didn't think about the static electricity. It's a lot different than building concrete foundations & laying rebar & moving tons of dirt all day in the sleet, rain & wind. Luckily, I think, I have a week or so of slack time & I think I'll run down to rat shack tomorrow & get the battery. I've studied TvroPro's instructions & those instructions are very well put together. I shouldn't have any problems .

This is what I'm doing now. My 920 will handle the dish moving and fp/zk stuff, and my 410 will handle my SRL sub.
