JUPITER, Fla. -- St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa was arrested early Thursday and charged with misdemeanor DUI after he was found asleep at the wheel in his running SUV at a green light.

Tony La Russa was hit with a DUI charge 10 days before his Cardinals begin defense of their World Series title.

La Russa's SUV was stopped at a light that, according to police, went through two cycles of green. A driver behind La Russa had to go around his vehicle, police said.

I saw that this morning on sportscenter. Man these people don't think do they.

The sad part is that this man and others in his position has enough money to have a personal driver or simply get a taxi.

There is no excuse to go out and take the chance of ending someones life because he wants to drive.

Asleep at the wheel, with his foot on the brake, and the trans in drive. Lucky he didn't kill himself or someone else.

The had to knock on his window ALOT to wake him up!! AND then, when they played the Marlins...they gave him a STANDING OVATION!!!  WHY??!! For being an idiot drunk? Cardinal fans can be so moronic with their love for that idiot. Wondering if they would have given a SO if he had killed someone.....

truth be told he was never all that much loved in st louis untill we won it last year. winning the trophy can change hearts! lol. almost every year before last manny fans wanted him gone. he has always been a hot topic on the raido.

the standing o was dumb. embarrasing really. but alot of fans across the country do that whenever the local hero makes a ass of himself.

and by idiot i assume you mean the dwi not as a manager.

As a manager, I always though he was OVERRATED. Prime example is ALL the talent he has had in St. Louis and only 2 World Series trips to show for it. As a person, he has ALWAYS been a jerk(with my dealings with him when I worked in Chicago media)...the DWI, well....idiot might be an understatement.

St. Louis fans are probably one of THE, if not THE most knowledgable baseball fans around....but to give the boob a standing O is beyond me.....

I am thinking the same. If people could only realize that a car in the hands of incapacitated driver is just like gun about to be fired, they would not get into a car while intoxicated. Not only you have disregard for your own life but act as without any regard for anyone's life that come in contact with the same car. It is quite unbeliable that there are people like this.
