Captiveworks vs. Coolsat

More Blind Scan Info

When (and if) CaptiveWorks does come out with the blind scan feature is this something that is only upgradable by buying a whole new receiver. I've read your evaluation of the current receiver and it sounds like a very nice FTA receiver for the money. A friend recommended that I look at the CoolSat 5000. Being totally new to this, which receiver and sat package would you buy as your first and why?

no, when a receiver gets an upgrade, there is just some software that you can download into the unit. Its pretty easy to do.

As an example, pay satellite companies (Dish, Direct, StarChoice, ExpressVu) automatically upgrade software in your box. FTA you have to manually do it but like I say it takes maybe 5 minutes to do.

The Captiveworks is a nice unit but the Coolsat does have more features
-blind scan (Captiveworks may get it but it may be a while)
-AC-3 output for some channels
-component output

Until the Captiveworks gets a blind scan option, I would say the Coolsat
