Will this work with legit FTA? It looks like a nice add-on for PVR capabilities for my existing CS 4000.

It mentions using the EPG to schedule recordings but it makes me wonder if I can manually schedule programs. Hmmm...does this cater to black market? Just curious about this thing.

yes it will work for legit FTA. You can hook up the reciever via the rs232 cable from your existing box. You would set the manual timers from the existing FTA box.

yes it does mainly cater to people who steal but it should work for legit FTA use.

Its pretty much like a hard drive added to a box (like the Visionsat uses but they can use any USB 2.0 HDD) :)

Good to know. One downside on even attempting to use the EPG feature with my locals, is that the EPG NEVER populates past the 1 hour mark. As you know Ice, my area locals are ITC still to this day on 119. Just to clear up any newbies' concerns about myself.

On another note:

I read your review on the Visionsat and was excited to know I could just use my key chain stick drive and record on there as well.

Good to know, thanks.

Just to clarify for those who don't know, those Miami locals are on a spot beam. In order to receive them, the dish must be located near the Miami region.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but how exactly does it do AV input the picture shows
an AVinput besides the rs232 is there an extra cable for av or does it only do AV in thru the rs232 cable
