Can't watch recorded programs

]After recording programs and then go back to watch them, I may get to watch 2 minutes or 5 minutes, etc. and then it switches back to live TV. After calling Directv, they don't know what is causing this after trying to reset the DVR, etc. Could I possibly need a new DVR? Thanks for any suggestions.

Well that sucks, doesn't it! Sounds like you may have a hard drive problem. Have they had you run any tests besides resetting the dvr?

Directv had me run some testing on the satellite, etc. but nothing worked. They wanted to send out a service person and charge me $50 but frankly I think it's a bad receiver - could that be it?

That's a pretty old receiver. Not sure how old, but I'd suggest you upgrade it.
This might be a good time to upgrade to HD.

It could be a faulty DVR, it could also be a cabling or even a dish problem. That's why they need to send a tech.
Do you have any other receivers or is this the only one?
