Cant update software with new computer

I don't know how anyone can play with FTA without Channel Master Program! My USB adapter crapped out on me recently and I honestly just feel "naked" not being able to use Channel Master! It is so much more convenient to edit channels and satellites and reorder things. Although it is not perfectly compatible with the Coolsat 5K, I relied upon it heavily. I really need to use it now to clean up my channel list as I have been scanning quite a bit with my new 1.2 M dish.

more than 1/2 of the receivers I have do not have CM support so its not as big of a deal for me

Iceberg, I see that you already bought something new, including a PC with a true RS232 port. That is the best route, I believe. But, I would like to mention this adapter... Belkin FSU409. It was under $20 when I bought it and that was four or five years ago. It has now failed on me, but they offer a lifetime warranty, so not much to worry about there and I got a lot of use out of this one over the years.

Well, at least only 1/2 of your receivers are missing out!

Personally, I just LOVE the ability to use the Channel Master proggy. Now that I have become so accustomed to using it, I really do feel lost without it. Well, the Channel Master program didn't quit on me, I just cannot communicate with any of my receivers because of the failure of the USB to serial adapter.

I don't know if you recall one of my posts where I was having trouble communicating with my new Fortec Star Dynamic receiver, but now I believe that the problem I was having then was just a hint that my USB to SERIAL adapter was failing. It has now totally failed. Cannot wait for the replacement!

I understand that your new PC isn't "NEW", but only new to you. Of course, it doesn't matter how old the equipment is, it only matters whether it works or not.
