OK this is weird
I had 5 football games scheduled to record at 11AM this morning. Then I decided to cancel one of the games. So around 10:45 I cancelled one of the games (it was syndicated game on the local CW). So it showed 4 games scheduled at 11 to record

So at 11:00 I tune to a different channel (not one of the 4 games I'm recording nor the one I cancelled) and hit "record" to record the 5th game. I get the dreaded popup "you must cancel one of the recordings to be able to record this game" and one of the "games" is the one I cancelled. I scroll down and hit "cancel recording" (even though it isnt recording that game) and it says "tuner not available" (????)

Anybody ever seen that happen? I could tune to any other channel but couldn't record it
Here is where is gets weirder. I go to the channel that I cancelled the recording (the CW), hit record AND IT STARTS RECORDING!!

That is weird. It sounds like the cancelled recording was held in the cue somehow even though you cancelled it.

If i recall you only have the genie installed in your mdu, but just to check theres no clients or anything right? Im seconding chip's theory right now. Ive never seen this happen before.

no clients....just a HR34 (Genie)

I've also seen it say there is an overlap (conflict) when there isnt. Saturdays I record lots of college football so I'll have games go from 11-2:30 and new ones start at 2:30 exactly (not a minute early) and every now and then it will say there is a conflict when setting up timers. But if I change the early games to end at 2:15 then I can set the 2:30 games. If I change those games back to 2:30 then it works fine.

Maybe a double RBR is in store ;)

Not sure, but the 2:30 overlap could be if the first recording goes to 2:30:59 and the second recording starts at 2:30:00.. That 59 seconds could account for the overlap.
Again, not sure at all, but it's a possibility.. As far as the original issue.. Haven't got a clue, but it sounds like the scheduler didnt release the tuner. Probably a software bug..
If you do the double RBR, maybe do a test run with random recordings and see if you can replicate it... Curious if it happens again.

no because I've been able to fix that issue. Here is what seems to happen
2 weeks ago I had 4 games from 11-2:30 (all games said til 2 but added the 30 minutes)
1 game started at 2-5:30
I had 3 games start at 2:30. 2 were on same channels as the 11:00 game so no issues there
The last game was the ABC game. When I set it to start on time and end 30 minutes later it said "conflict"

So I went into the 11:00 game that would end at 2:30 and had no game on same channel after it, changed one to end at 2:15 and then the ABC game would work. Here is where weirdness rears its head again. Went back and changed that game to end at 2:30 then everything was fine.

not sure, but do the timers account for the default live event extensions? I think you need to manually remove them or something, Ive never really dealt with that as I have 11 recording tuners in my personal setup lol

live events ask if you want to extend it. Default is 30 minutes but if you have a normal padding (say 1 minute) it drops that. So as example
Vikes game (ugh) yesterday was from noon to 3:25 in the guide
No padding would go from 11:59 to 3:26
the 30 minute padding makes it go from 11:59-3:55 (no extra minute)
