i have tried and so has voom to try and figure out my problem with my dvi connection, if i have it connected and turn the tv off with the remote or power button on the tv, it shuts the stb off also, if i dont have it connected and just the component plugs connected, and power off the tv the stb will stay on, i have switched outlets, plugged into a wall plug by itself and it still does it? anyone have any answers or help with this? i have even moved the tv to the other side of the room and rehooked everything and it still does it.

Have you tried changing stbs? You might want to send a message to "Wilt Hildenbrand" <wilth@optonline.net> about this weird behavior. He might have more insight on this.
