I received a promotional credit about a month ago but when I log in online to use it, all my movie options are SD and I can't choose HD (it's grayed out). When I called to order a movie over the phone I was told my account doesn't support HD. I called tech support, explained the situation and was told it was a DRM issue because I was using an HDMI cable from my DVR to the TV (projector in my case) and that I needed to connect a component cable. This seems odd to me although to be fair the last time I ordered a pay per view movie I believe my DVR was connected to my old projector with a component cable but that doesn't explain why I don't have any HD option at all online. I have two VIP622s and all the HD channels.

It's because of the HDCP crap.If the receiver doesn't pass the HDCP test then you can't order anything that is HDCP protected. The only two options are component cables or projector that is HDCP compliant. It's a royal pita, but what can ya do.

Thanks for the reply. I ran the HDMI test on both DVRs and they both say HDCP "on" and looking through the information it says HDCP = ENCRYPTED. I guess I'll have to call Dish tech support back but I haven't had very good luck talking with them lately so I'm not looking forward to it. :(

Give dirt a pm,or do an online tech chat.

I can assure you a phone CSR would have NEVER discovered that. MaryB does it again.
