For the OP with the two satellites, it's quite possibly just your diseqc switch.
The cheap ones (that includes about 95% of 'em) are touchy with Twinhan cards.
See discussion about switch mods over on
MyTheatre forum.
Another thing one of my buddies found was that the crystal frequency on his Kworld card was off by a little bit.
That made tuning the transponders troublesome.
Perhaps Twinhan has had some bad crystals, too.
You might search for more info on the subject.
It should be documented by now.
As for the discussion of using a DP34 switch to watch the few free channels on Dish, that should be in a different thread.
Also, the transponder file listed above is not correct for the purpose (as posted, it needs to be modified).
I have used a PVR-powered DP34 to fire up new PCI and USB receivers for their first test.
I plugged into one of the four regular outputs, not the feed-through ports.
Besides the "You have a Dish 500" on 110, and the "You are pointed at 148" on 148 bird, there's NASA and Angel on 119.
Oh, and the very useful, "Dish Network For Your Information".
Out of about 1000 channels found, those were the best.
(and yes, I scanned reliably right through the DP34 switch with no trouble)
I went to the trouble of considering the more robust DP34 for FTA use.
Found used ones for $10..15 in good condition.
But without matching band-stacked FTA LNBs, it's the wrong tool for the job.
Those cheap diseqc switches (
with modifications) are probably the way to go.
