Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just got a new Sony STR-DG600 7.1 receiver to replace my old Sony 5.1. I cannot get remote of my ViP 211 to control the receiver. The remote controlled the old receiver just fine after changing to AV2 in the menu. The new receiver doesn't have a second AV IR output that I know of. I have tried all the codes with no luck. Any suggestions?

P.S. Got a great deal on the new receiver from Crutchfield--$199.99 + $10.99 S&H (no sales tax). The next cheapest price I could find was at amazon.com for $257 + Free S&H (no sales tax).

I will tell you this, I do not have the same model of Sony as you, but I have one close to it in the family room. However my prob is sorta different. I had a 301 in there and changed it too a 311. With the new remote it would not control volume. However the old dish remote would. I thought this was crazy but go figure.

i have a 508 receiver with the newer 6.2 remote and i found this to work for me.*1.5, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, 5.0, 5.2, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2, 6.3, 8.0 Universal Remotes Only

The 'out of the box' setup for these universal remotes is for the volume control to default to TV mode when it is programmed to a TV, even when in SAT or VCR mode. The AUX mode, when programmed, will control volume on the auxiliary equipment.

In AUX Mode Volume Override, the volume control defaults to the AUX mode instead of TV mode. In this mode, you cannot access TV volume at all. This is if you who wish to use the TV as a monitor and control all volume through the stereo system.

To put in AUX Mode Volume Override:

1. Press and hold the AUX mode button until all buttons light up
2. Press #
3. Press Volume +
4. Press 0
5. Press #

To put back in TV Default Mode:

1. Press and hold the TV mode button until all buttons light up
2. Press #
3. Press Volume +
4. Press 0
5. Press #
