I have a openbox s9 aka solomend 800 aka sathawk 800 hd pvr.

I hit the video format button to switch resolutions. I can switch from the two types of pal video, but I cant switch back to NTSC. I even followed directions in a thread to wait 15 seconds before hitting the vid format button. I still have composite video, but no componet video. Please help.

If you can connect any of the outputs to a TV or monitor that can deal with PAL (or 50Hz HD), use the menus to change to an NTSC mode.

I thought I read somewhere that the V.Format action was fixed to include North American modes now, but in my experience it's never been.

There is no pal NTSC switch in the menu.

I noticed if I switch it to pal-n, I can get composite to work. However componet works, but its wavy near the ends and off color. Yes I double checked my connections.

I don't have those options, just 480i and 576. 720 and 1080 rezes are not there. 480i makes composite fine, but component looks like this. I am still on PAL-N, which is close enough for composite, but not componet. There has to be a way to go back to ntsc.

Go to Sadoun's site and download their most recent firmware for the Sathawk. Load it. It has the north american options in it. See if that helps. You should try 480i, then switch to an HDMI display and see if you can switch to 720p .

480i ought to be NTSC, and work fine over component. There is NO other PAL/NTSC setting. What version of the firmware are you using? Unless it's something I've never encountered (I thought I'd seen them all), maybe your receiver is broken?
