I'm using a superdish, DP34 switch, and a dvr-625 receiver. Its a superdish 105 I believe. The little outrigger thing is on the right if you are looking straight at it. and if you pop the cover off the component labeled FSS is on the left.

This setup was professionally installed and has been working fine for months but just stopped last night for no apparent reason. Now it just sits there cycling through transponders trying to acquire a signal.

It is quite cloudy out but its always taken way more than whats out there now to block my signal before. I went out and gave the dish a gentle shove to make sure nothing had come loose and come out of alignment. I also check to make sure all the cables were still securely fastened.

When I run the check switch utility, the results are the same for both satellite inputs.

Satellite: Conn Conn X
Trans: X X X
Device: Dual Dual X
Status: Reception Error
Switch: DP34

Superdish is also checked.

If I go back to the point dish screen, I get no signal for any satellite.

Can anyone give me some tips on things to try to fix this. I'd really like to avoid paying dish $100 to send out a tech.

P.S. I have tried rebooting the reciever using both the power button and by pulling the cord.

Sorry for adding a second message, apparently you can only edit your message once.

Can somebody at least tell me what the results of the switch tests mean? Is input three having a problem? If its just that one input why do I get nothing from any satellite. I would think I would get everything except the channels coming through that specific connection but all I get is a screen that says acquiring satellite signal and has the below info

Satellite: X
Transponder: continually cycles through transponders
Progress: 0 of 5

Get the feeling I'm just talking to myself here but I believe I found the problem. Unfortunately it looks like its the part of the dish that receives the signal from the 105 satellite is broken.

I tried plugging the cable going into input two into input three and re-running the check switch test. Input three came up as connected that time so I ruled out the switch. I then tried replacing the cable going from the cable between the switch and the dish itself but no luck. That just leaves the dish itself.

I'm rather surprised it would just break randomly like that.

The thing that stinks the most is I'm going to be out for a week so I'm going to be missing all the shows I have set to DVR, including at least one season finale. Very irritating.

Satellite should list the sats if connection is working..

Should say something like:

Satellite: 119:110:105
All All All
And so forth.. The numbers could be in a different order depending on how they are wired to your switch.
Now your problem.. Either your cables coming from you Receiver to your switch have had some kind of failure. Or your Dish shifted positions and no longer sees the satellites..
Or even more simple the receiver has gotten screwed up and is need of a hard reboot.. Unplug your receiver from the wall for 30 seconds then replug it in.. The re run the switch test. If still nothing then start looking at the other items I mentioned.. Good Luck.

What is a good signal strength?

DVR Advantage now AT200 min?
