Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

So you call and say you are moving - or say nothing at all.
Precisely. Except you don't even have to say moving. Just say you will be at the other address(if you want to say anything at all). It's not really lost revenue, as it is still just one subscriber. That lost revenue is when you have 2+ households sharing one bill. That's what we did in the Army, and surprised we never got caught, but either way, what was originally being mentioned sounds perfectly ok. No negative reactions should be expected.

Even if there were members of MY immediate family watching at both locations I don't see a problem. But trust me in Dish's eyes I am stacking.
No reason for me to call and tell them anything, as I like receiving my Detroit locals up north, and with ota my up north locals as well.

Would love to continue this theological discussion (Pulp Fiction reference) but I have to go to work!

Let's stay away from Personal Attacks guys. ;)
Your Right, NP, having a bad day.
Thank you.

Like I said previously it took 8 pages for one gentleman to finally give me a straight answer regarding the status of my recordings when I cancel. "the mack", thank you.
Your welcome, although realize these are my results, yours may vary. If you disconnect satellite feed before you cancel you should be good.

Actually, as another said, some have noted losing the recordings. No one is trying to mess with you here.

I've been on this site for years, and I've seen many anecdotal posts saying yes and no. It seems the results depend on many factors...receiver model, software version, how it's disconnected, policy at the time of disconnect. etc.

Even "the mack" said his "straight answer" results may vary.

This is probably the most accurate answer. I don't think anyone knows for sure since everyone has had different results. I deactivated a receiver once and I only had my recordings available for about two days. I was only able to transfer a quarter of the content I had saved. It was my screw up by not starting the transfer before I made the swap though. Guess I was too excited to upgrade to the Hopper.

That is why I post what the company has said. Because results may vary, can only go off what is supported. If an "error" happens in your favor, then you have nothing but joyousness

If all you have on the 722 is on the internal hard drive, just get Direct TV and keep Dish until you have watched all the recordings. Then, disconnect the Dish service. Just record the shows that you want on DirectTV and watch the Dish recording first. If you have a expensive package, go online to your Dish account and change to a low cost package for the remaining time. Good luck.

Suddenly my locals have changed--no notice, no option
