Can I get the new HD package with my 811, or do I have to get a new receiver to do it? I currently own an 811 and I lease a second 811. I currently have the HD package only. Also, I would have to get a second dish or get the Dish 1000, correct? Thanks.

No. You need a new MPEG-4 receiver (Dish models 211, 411, or 622) in order to receive new and future HD programming. Dish would for customers to have a Dish 1000 (covers satellite locations: 110/119 and 129) however those living in the extreme north-east and south-east should receive mirrored HD programming at satellite location 61.5 using a Dish 500...so yes, you would need a Dish 1000 or 2nd dish pointed at 61.5 in order to receive VOOM and other new HD programming.

I don't see why E* would not update your programming to the new HD package... just understand your 811 won't see all the channels the 211/411/622 would see. You also need to update your dish to a 1000 or add a second dish to get 61.5 if you are not in the 1000 footprint (and can't get 129)

Sorry, I just had to say that. The receivers are upgradable to a point, just not to MPEG4.

Ah, ok. The only reason I asked is that your post above made it sound like you were getting all the HD except Universal HD and ESPN2 HD on your remaining 811.

My fault... when I got the 411 upgrade I also got dish1000.... never had any VOOM before and was just surprised to see it on both receivers not thinking about the 10 vs 15 channel update....
