Can This be done?

I am looking at buying a 6 foot dish to receive NOAAPORT data.

It depends how reliable you want reception. If you want guaranteed reception, get a 10 footer. If you can live with hours, days or weeks or forever with no reception, you can try a 6' dish and hope there is no occasional or new full-time transmissions on nearby satellites that will wipe out NOAAPORT.

A 6' dish is not 2-deg spacing compliant so it sees more than just the C-band satellite of interest. You are taking the risk of satellites to the East and West of AMC-2 interfering with NOAAPORT unless you buy a dish large enough -- a well-tuned and formed 8.5' or larger dish -- to see just the satellite of interest.
