It will help to know your location first. Dish Network has launched HD locals in several markets and they will continue to do so.
Why do you have to switch sources?
To watch OTA locals? If so, why not hook up your antenna to your Dish HD reciever?

they have hd for the county about 3 blocks from me, but not for mine and don't offer SV yet..

ahh, here is the second post from the guy posting the same question in the HD-DVD/blu-ray forum.
Why do you have to switch sources on your TV? How are you getting HD locals? OTA or cable? If OTA, why not hook up the antenna to the dish receiver, I assume it's HD also.
If cable, then ok you gotta switch sources, but is it really a hard thing to do?

If I had to guess, I bet you have the antenna hooked up directly to your tv rather than through your e* receiver. That would make sense if your box is not an hd box, but otherwise it makes more sense to run it through the e* receiver. It will integrate your ota HD channels into the guide and if you get (non-hd) locals through dish, it will fill in the guide data (as long as it matches a channel that E* transmits to you.)
