Can I use the DVR Hard Drive in my comp ?

Just out of curiosity , I have a DISH DVR 625 and I recently switched to Comcast .

This thing is completely paid for and I have absolutely zero use for it.

I was wondering if I would be able to take out the hard drive , format it , and use it as a regular computer hard drive ?

If this is a stupid question , sorry , lol.....just seeing if I could recoup any losses !

Its a 120 gb hard drive ...so.....just wondering.

The 625 should have a 250GB dirve. And it is a standard IDE drive. However, if you actually own the 625, then sell it to recoup your cost.

250 GB should be SATA type.

Its confirmed. Just opened up my 625 and its a Standard IDE DRIVE

Yes, unless you ran up unpaid charges, you can probably get more selling the 625 intact than the cost of a brand new 250GB drive.

I've seen raw 250GB under ~$80 and they were 7200 RPM.

That was Scott's pictures or someone else - I vividly remember the SATA disk.

EDIT. Oops - mixed 942 and 625. Yes, 942 have the SATA 250 GB drive, but 625 - PATA 250 GB disk.
