Can I transfer my HD DVR box to another account?

So, I just recently canceled DTV and was about to ship my boxes back to them when I realized my dad needed a new HD DVR box. Is it possible to transfer my box to his account in lieu of sending it back? I realize DTV probably won't do it when they can rape him for a $200 charge instead of getting a free box.

I did call once to ask and I got a CSR that didn't seem like she even knew what planet she was on so I am asking here where the actual knowledgeable people reside. Anyone ever do this or know if it is possible?

No, you can not.

Owned boxes can but only after purchasing a new access card for $20.

Leased boxes they will not allow you do it.

(at least this what I have been told)

They will not allow this. Even if you have two active accounts in the same name, (resident and vacation home), they won't let you transfer boxes from one to another.
