My Tennessee Vols are playing this weekend and I noticed the game will be on ESPN3. But it says it will be blacked out in the states of TN and GA. I had planned (before I saw the blackout) to watch the game on my iPad "watch ESPN" app and mirror to my apple tv. I'm really not smart enough to understand how they know that I'm in the state of TN when I'm on the web or my iPad. But is there a way to fool or hide it? My only other option is PPV, which I'll probably end up ordering. I just hate to spend $30 to watch a blow out (I hope anyway).

Only if your iPad is Jailbroken. In the Cydia store you download an APP called LocSpoof.

I use it for the MLB APP to get around blackouts and it works every time.

Well I went ahead and purchased the app.

I assume you watch the games using apple tv and AirPlay? Or do you just watch them on your iPad? I ask because I'm using apple tv and every time I close my cover the game stops playing (I'm using the watch ESPN app). It doesn't do that if I'm watching a show using You Tube or Safari. It just keeps on playing. I can leave the cover open I guess, but I would think after a 3 hour football game it would get really hot and probably won't have much battery left. Any suggestions?

I found an app called location spoofer, cost is $1.99. Is this the same app your referring to?

Yep. That be the one.

I watch directly on my iPad. Although I could use display out and watch it on an external monitor if I wanted. I have my iPad plugged in when watching to keep the battery from draining.

Well it didn't seem to work. I changed my location to Texas, but the it still told me the game was blacked out in my area. I'm sure it uses my IP address to determine my location and I guess there's no way to hide the IP address. Oh well.

I don't know if you could configure a Tor or Proxy site to go through. You might need to set up your home LAN to point traffic though the proxy if you can't force the iPad to do that.

Use a location outside the US. I use Mexico. You may have to restart your iPad after you change it.

I should have tried that. But according to ESPN the game was only blacked out in the states of TN and GA. So I moved my location to Texas. But it didn't work.

One thing that I forgot to ask. Did you select the ESPN APP in the spoof APP as "Always Spoof"?
