New to DirectV and I was hooking up Direct dish using old RG6 cable used on Bell system. The power inserter for the SW44 switch was still plugged in and when I hooked it up to the SWM LNB there was a spark and the system would not work until I replaced he LNB. Could the SWM LNB be repaired or do you think that there could be something else wrong with it. Is there any way of testing the LNB? From what I have read so far the voltage for the SWM is 21 volts and the voltage for the SW44 is 20 volts so I'm not sure if it was a voltage issue, Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

I'm not familiar with the SW44. Does it have the same polarity as the Directv power inserter? Being dc voltage, that's important!

I don't think there is much you can do to repair an LNB, but used ones sell for around $20 shipped on ebay so it shouldn't be a big deal, pony up for a new one and remember to kill the electric before switching your setup to SWM. :)

He will also need a Power Insertor,, right ?

The SW44 is used by Dishnet and Bell It is a DC supply voltage: 12-20V DC through current 500mA max. I did not try that Lnb again, good idea to try again. I alredy have a new LNB, I just wanted to know if it is repairable, I like to try and fix things. I was a little overzealous on hooking the system up.
Thanks for the input
