I currently have my 622 receivers connected to my cable router and also connected to my Verizon phone line. I really like the caller ID through the satellite receiver since it allows me to see incoming calls. I often do not hear the phone ringing when I am watching a surround sound program. I am planning to eliminate my Verizon land line to save $75/month. Dock N Talk allows you to connect your cell phone to your phone jacks in your house. I read on the Dock N Talk we site that TIVO, fax machines, and satellite receivers can not use a digital cell phone connection to dial out due to the compression on a cell phone line. However, since my DISH receivers are connected via earthlink cable, they should be able to connect to DISH via the broad band connection. My question is whether, I would still be able to receive the caller ID through the DOCK N Talk? The web site for Dock N Talk https://www.phonelabs.com/index.asp says that caller ID will work on existing phones. Does anyone have any experience using Dock N Talk?
Another possibility is for me to use Vonage. This would cost an additional $20 per month. I used to have Sun Rocket which worked with my DISH 622 receivers. Thus, I'm pretty sure that Vonage would work. But if Dock N Talk would work, I could save the $20/month for Vonage.
