DirecTV Product Engineering has announced the following to the Cutting Edge Group:
Remember this feature that was implemented (but disabled) in the new PI42.1 build (0x1BE6) ?
• Promotional Offers (disabled at this time): Display offers of promotions available for customers when they come out of standby. (This group will get a chance to test this once product approves it)
Product approved the testing of this feature for this group.
What is this Feature:
• This feature provides customers with promotions available for their account. They can accept the promotion they get (on the STB) without calling CARE.
o The user gets an offer when they come out of standby, in guide or in menu.
o When they accept the offer and complete the transaction they can start watching what ever the offer they have on the account.
• This is account specific.
What are we asking the volunteers to test (they need to be on 0x1BE6 or lster server build)
• We will enable offers on the account (real offers – list provided below).
o We would like the testers to test these offers (make the purchase, acknowledge the message, etc.)
o These offers are real, free and will not renew at the end of its term.
• Tester will not see any extra charges on the account – they will see the offer accepted with zero dollars on bills. Of course we will credit the account if things fail.
• If any offers fails to appear or has any issue during the transactional process, please provide details of the issue and logs from the STB.
The below timeline is for only those testers who accept to volunteer.
And of course, I don't need to remind this group of the NDA (Legal would like me to mention this
)
4/8/2025: CE Accounts
• $7.99 off MGM+ for 1 Month
• Sports Pack Message Only – sending to interstitial page sports info page (user journey: Interstitial Info)
• AMC+ Message only – sending to a channel 1557
5/19/2025: CE Accounts - 2nd Launch for 2 offers
• 2025 MLB – offer available starting 5/19
• $10/1mo Credit Offer.
What we need from the volunteer testers for this promotional feature test (End of Day - Pacific Time – Monday 3/24 ) :
• Please provide your account number.
• Please provide the RID (Receiver ID) of the server – The promotional offer is on the account itself so if there are multiple Server or other DVR on the account it should all be same.
Please let me know if there are any question or need more information.
To sign up for this testing send a Direct Message (Envelope Icon in upper right) to me (Tom Speer) and Doctor J with your account number and the Receiver ID of the server on version 0x1BE6 (or later). If you send it to only me I will include Doctor J. We have to get those to DIrecTV by Monday afternoon.
