I've used the DVB World box in the past, so thought this would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately, I have had ZERO luck and have even tried a second unit because we believed the first one to be defective. However, both units proved to give the exact same results.

The driver is installed and the device is recognized in Windows XP MCE2005. I've tried many different software programs, but can not get any signal or quality with the matchbox pro.

I've tried MediaPortal, ProgDVB, DVBDream, and the BlazeDTV that came with the box. Nothing works, can't get a lock.

Now, I KNOW my big dish is parked at G10R because my VboxII says so. :) To prove that, the MercuryII STB has excellent signal on C and Ku when plugged into that line. Can't get anything on C band or Ku with the matchboxpro though. The signal stays at or around 2% and the green LED on the matchboxpro blinks all the time. Sorta acts like it is not connected to anything.

So, I thought maybe it didn't like my diseqc switch, or doesn't like going through the VboxII. I hooked it up to a fixed Ku dish we have at G16 and still nothing. (tried to at least get a lock on the data tp's).

So, now I'm bummed. I've tried all sorts of diseqc configuration in the different applications, but the killer was not being able to get anything on the G16 fixed dish which does not have any switches....except maybe a 3x4 multiswitch at the lnb...can't remember.

If anyone is going to have an idea of what to try next, you fellas do!

well the FAQ mentions it 2% it isn't getting a signal (and i think this is with blaze software)
which i'm sure you know and read , it got to have something to do with setup making the MBP think there isn't a signal. with your straight connection try disqec A or 1 selected

did you not like the usb world box ... i just run it with the nextorm software .... does it run better with other software

George, the puzzling thing is that it doesn't matter which software I use, whether it is Blaze or otherwise. I will try your suggestion though of using a simple diseqc switch setting on the straight connection to the fixed dish at 99W G16.

I see in your sig that you're not watching SpiritTV. Do we have SA to thank for this? My in-laws had a sub with them, but we can't get broadband here so they just lost them as a customer. I'm sure they've lost a lot of people.

About an hour later.....

I tried it again on my G16 line with and without the diseqc switch as you suggested and still nothing. Used ProgDVB this time and still at 2%.

I can't believe I would have two bad units in a row. It must be a software issue somewhere.

i hope that they are just having problems and will be back their sister station is still broadcasting :)

sounds strange what did the folks at dmsi say ??

Looks like I'll be exchanging it for something else. Not sure if I can mention the name of the place I got it from, but they have been excellent.

Come to think of it now, when I had the Hauppauge Nova-S card in the same PC, it worked fine in MediaPortal, but it would never work right in any other application.

I have a Match Box Pro and it works fine with both of my computers (XP MCE & XP Home.)

The only thing I can think of would be to make sure the coaxial cable is indeed connected to the LNB-In input. That would be the outer connector on the Match Box Pro...

Good Luck!

Yep, checked that many times. I tried a different PC and worked once. I was able to get the signal to be ~60% instead of 2%. So, we made progress, but I'm going back to an STB.
