I recently signed up for Directv service (1 HD Receiver, 1 standard reveiver). I am happy with the programming and the installation.

However, I don't like the 24-month commitment part. I would like to purchase the HD receiver (from a 3-rd party such as ebay) and return the original HD receiver to Directv. Does that work? Does it get me out of 2-year commitment? Do I need to do anything different/special when I call Directv and ask them about this plan? I am still in the 30-day trial period.

TIA
