hi

Last week i find by myself a simple solution to improve the ku side .

Remove the tree screw holding the ku lnb and pull it out between 1/2 " 5/8" .

i put 3 stand off 1/2" with longer screw and my signal and quality rise from 40% to 90% . wow amazing!

I think he's saying he removed three screws, and, or , replaced them with half-inch longer ones. Don't have one of those lnbfs so it makes no sense to me.

edit: His English is better than my French would be!

Picture the hardware... the Ku bolts onto the back end of the C-band LNBF.
So, he removed the screws and used spacers and longer screws to move the Ku away from the dish.
Sounds all wrong to me, but I didn't try it! - :up
 
I have one and ama see if I can try this.. But for sure a detailed picture will help oui oui
 
Ok... I'm sitting here looking at mine, and that is making sense now because to get mine tuned between C & Ku, I had to adjust the focal length...
So... 1/2 - 5/8" out??
Are you weatherproofing somehow?
 
If we could determine the exact length needed, it shouldn't be too difficult to cut out a rubber bushing (maybe from an old car tire?) just right to act as a spacer and keep it weatherproof...

Or a stack of tar paper...? Maybe there's hope for this piece of crap after all...
 
Wow, I'm really interested in this solution! If you use the spacers (stand-offs) between the KU and the C-band, what about using weather-proof tape to wrap around the gap? I know that Home Depot sells these spacers in the drawers over in the Hardware Department. Maybe not elegant, but it would work long enough to try it out.
 
Also try removing the supplied Feed Cap, see if signal improves.
I use the bottom of a plastic water bottle for a Cap.

Very interesting thread.

In both the BSC621 and DMX741 manual they have a graphic that shows the disparity of focal points. This may be a way of correcting that.
 
Several of us use the water bottle trick. It helped mine pick up 5 or 10 Q points, but this spacer deal may actually make me WANT to use it again...
I'm just bummed I didn't think of it... gaaaa....

Great idea.!!!!! Has anyone had success with this? I will try it this afternoon if the weather permits. I was thinking of using a custom routed ring out of 1/2"or 3/4" polycarbonate and sealing the edges with GE adhesvie silicone to protect from the elements. I hope it works.

Some are getting good results with flat scalar on 1.2 m offset so this may work there too.

Smaller offset may require a change in focal distance delta.

Be great if Walrus1957 would check this out on his setup.
