ESPN.com has learned that the Denver Broncos have reached agreement in principle on most of the elements of a trade that will send veteran quarterback Jake Plummer to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Plummer

Under the terms being discussed, the Broncos would receive a middle-round draft choice, believed to be a fourth-rounder, in exchange for Plummer. The trade could be announced as early as Friday.

Maybe Plummer will be better in Tampa, probably not.

Wow this is kinda surprising. They are going to go with Cutler for the whole year. He didn't do that good either if I remember correctly.

great, i see plummer doing fantastic things in tampa......not!! i was hoping they might try and draft jemarcus russell but he might be gone when the bucs draft fourth!!!

good, we don't want him here.

i might go back on that a little bit. he kind of reminds me of rich gannon. maybe gruden might be able to get him to play a little bit better.

i guess i will take my first statement back and hold my opinion until we see how he does.

Put'er in reverse. :D

Doesn't that make two so-called "quaterback of the future's" that Denver is pawned off to Tampa? I seem to remember Denver dumping Greese (and him going to TB) since it seemed Plummer was better.

Not to sure about Denver as of late. Getting rid of Bell (the trade they made with Detroit) was a worse move in my book.

Not the way I see it, Dre Bly will do wonders for Denver's D.
He's very good and reliable, I am not real happy that they let him go.

Thanks mr. millen, see millen doesn;t get along with him or James Hall so he sent Hall packing too.

I think we should send millen packing ...............
Getting Bell and Foster were good moves, seeing they need a RB now.

Tatum Bell? Outside of Clinton Portis, I don't remember many running backs being too successful outside of Denver. Anybody can run for 1000 yrds. in Denver because of their system. I remember the Lions drafting Ruben Droughns, and he had success in Denver and a little in Cleveland, but he was a bust in Detroit. Here's hoping I'm wrong about Bell. God knows we need the help here in Detroit.

DETROIT LIONS - - REBUILDING SINCE 1957!

He's retiring to avoid the trade.

Smart move. Jake "the Snake" Plummer was the only thing the Cardinals had going for them, which I guess is what made him look like a good QB to the Broncs. But, he always falls apart in tough games. The Broncs are much better off without him, and are even better off going with Jay Cutler.

Goodby, Jake, and good riddance.:up

actually, denver has traded plummer to the bucs for a conditional draft pick. the way i understand the story, the bucs are only obligated to send denver the pick, if plummer actually signs. if he doesn't, denver gets squat.

i also understand, this will prevent plummer from signing with anybody else, because the bucs now own his rights.

Your right about the Bucs owning the contract for Plummer now. I guess I need to read more that the first few lines of the story.

If Plummer decides to play what is Tampa Bay going to do. They will have three QB's with a decent contract. It will be pretty tough to have your third string QB with a 5 million contract.

Well, it's official....Jake AND Jeff Garcia are with Tampa Bay. Hmmm....guess Chris Simms had better heal pretty quickly

I would probably go with Garcia. I know it's official that Plummer is retiring but whether he was or not, I was just never a big fan of him. I think he appeared to be pretty good when he was with the Cardinals simply because he was the man in that organization and most of the times when the team won while Plummer was playing in Arizona, a good deal of it could be contributed to Plummer. Even with a big lead, he had a tendancy to fall apart when the game was on the line. I know Garcia has had his ups and downs, but if I were the coach I would have went with him regardless of what Plummer may have done.

As for Simms, I don't have much of an opinion. I thought he was good in 2005 when he filled in after Griese was injured in that game with the Dolphins. I do know that he was good enough to lead them to the playoffs for the first time since winning the Super Bowl back in 2002. I guess a great deal of what will happen will depend on the performance of each quarterback during the Preseason and how well Simms has healed. I know that he would have been a free agent if it wouldn't have been for the contract extension he signed.... And I do think he is good enough that he would have been in pretty high demand.

i think bruce gradkowski is still under contract too. i believe tim rattay is gone or will be!!

Yes Bruce is there too, hopefully he will continue to get a chance when the oppertunity is there again.
I liked the idea when the Buc's took him perticularly with Coach Gruden around, he seemed to like Bruce alot, he definatly had an up and down year, but seeing he was a rookie that was expected.
He played here in town (Toledo Rockets) so I really hope he still gets a chance.
