I just listened to him (Direct TV CFO) say on the webcast that the launch will occur in the next 30 days - he also siad the same thing but used "the next few weeks".

so much for the CSR telling me the 19th.

They didnt say no channels would launch wednesday. They said new HD packages start in October.

Directv says merging with Echostar would be the best thing in the world, if they could get reglitaory approval. They dont think it will be done after 6 months the XM, Sirius merger if tryed.

Directv is saying that sharing HD systems with echostar will be hard because of the smart card and equipment swaps involved.

There is no way DirecTV and Echostar could merge.

They tried already.

DOJ said no...antitrust issues.


FCC said no...they would not allow the transfer of TP licenses.
And that was back when Voom was still a DBS provider...and Echostar even offered to give Voom their TPs at 61.5.

If everyone said no when there were 3 DBS players in the game there is no way in hell they will say yes when there are only 2 players in the game.
