What is going on? I go to watch the Braves tonight on TBS and it's blacked out?? WTF? This has NEVER happened before, I called Dish and they said that's it's blacked out across the ENTIRE COUNTRY and that no one can watch this game. Is this just BS? Is anyone seeing this game?

It's not blacked out in my area (92879 area code)... I'm watching it just fine...Sorry man, that sucks that you can not watch it.

I am not blacked out in 13669 upstate NY, do you live near Wash. DC and are in Wash marketing area, that may be why.

No I am from NC.. I just got off the phone with TBS and told the guy what the Dish rep told me and he just started laughing and told me that Dish Network was in error blacking this game out and they had been in touch with them all night making them aware of the problem yet "Dish doesn't want to do anything about it". He was pretty angry that I was told that "no one can watch the game because it's not supposed to be on tv" and he told me that he would let the Dish folks know TBS wasn't pleased. I just got a call 10 minutes ago from TBS asking if the game was back on and sure enough it was, he said he and Dish had a "long talk" and this shouldn't happen again.

Coming in fine here in Florida. Florida Marlins country.

If you are in the DC area it may be because a local TV station has it or the new Sports Network for DC has it.

Its AOK here in the DC market. I am able to tune it in. Dish doesn't carry the new MASN RSN created for the Nationals yet. So unless a Nats game is on the local OTA channel, we usually don't get to see it. Even ESPN games are sometimes blacked out.

The last time the Braves played the Cards, I was surprised to see it not only blacked out on DBS, but on our local cable system as well. (I had NEVER seen this happen before on either place) I guess the RSN's (at least the FSN's anyway) decided to exercise their exclusivity against TBS.

Truly amazing! Not that it got blacked out. Not that it returned. But you actually spoke to a human being at Dish and then spoke to a human at TBS? Are you sure that it was the same game and not the one a day later?

And then got a call back?

Lord, forgive me my sins, The world is about to come to an end and I wanted to confess about ...

Look! Hell is frozen!

:yes I called technical support at E* and got the biggest idiot ever who told me "TBS changed their mind and doesn't want the game to be shown on tv tonight, no one in the country can see it". A few minutes later I call TBS and a receptionist answers, as soon as I mention a blackout problem with Dish, she immediately game me another number to call at TBS's executive office. Really nice guy answered the phone at this number and he said he had been getting numerous calls from people in NC all night, and this was 100% a Dish Network error. He said the game was supposed to be blacked out 50 miles from Washington DC and "that's clearly not NC". I then told him what the Dish tech lady told me and he was furious and told me that he couldn't believe they would be telling people such things and asked for her name but I didn't get it. He then told me he was going to "personally call Dish's CEO" and discuss why they weren't following proper blackout rules, and he'd call me right back. He asks for my number, 10 minutes after I hang up the guy calls back and says to please check TBS and see if the game is on and it was, and then he said "I had a long talk with the Dish folks, and I assure you this will not happen again" and he apologizes. So it came back on in the 6th inning, no big loss. Typical E* incompentence.

Wow good work Chris. Pretty neat to see some direct action as a result of your contact huh? :)

Good work. You got the info to the proper channels very quickly and got good results. I wonder how many others followed through with this as well? TBS had more to lose than Dish Network as a result of this. That is why Dish Network was not doing much about it.

Considering that North Carolina is considered Braves territory, there is NO reason that a Braves game should ever be blacked out there.
