brand new and i would like a few tips

Not on the Galaxy 19 satellite. Mostly all MPEG2 format.
If you start exploring the other satellites for more interesting programming, then you will need a MPEG4 h.264 capable receiver.

Yes, like Titanium said you are fine if you just want to receive G19, but if you want to expand to other satellites, you will need to upgrade.

So what 'happened' to get it to receive 97W? Your current receiver should only miss one channel on 97W, IIRR.
124 channels out of like 240, maybe some fine tuning to get the rest????
Some to look for KTV, EBRU, CNC World, Al Etejah, Russia Today(English language) and some other channels have WC soccer coverage.

198 out the door for the 2 items listed in the above comment. will i receive different type of channels with them?

What satellite are you pointed at? If it's 97w, you won't get anything different than you are already getting, as most if not everything on 97w Ku is MPEG-2 DVB-S. The new receiver you would get would allow you to receive MPEG-4 DVB-S2 signals.
