Boxee made a post today on their blog detailing the 1.5 version of the Boxee Box software and it's PC software release.
Boxee Blog » Boxee 1.5 & Fall Software Update
The long and the short of it is that version 1.5 with Live TV support is schedule to head out to set-top boxes in January. PC users? This is it. Version 1.5 is the last PC software release and they are pulling it offline and the end of January. Add to it, that because of certification and DRM restrictions, premium apps such as Netflix, Vudu, Spotify, Pandora and more, are not in the PC app. No Live TV functionality either.
With their own set top box to take care of and more and more connected TVs and Blu Ray players coming out, they feel that the use of HTPCs will decline as people move to one of those solutions. Oh but they thank they PC users for getting them to where they are now. Ya... thanks for that.
