Blank screen coming out of standby

Hi... I can't figure this out... I have a 622 running in single mode.

When I turn on the TV I see the standby message. Then I press select or power to, and the screen goes blank, and no audio. I can hit pause, rewind, live TV, and the screen will show the little icons for these buttons, but the video's still blank. I can also hit the guide, and check out the My Recordings list, but still no video.

Sometimes I have closed captioning on, and so I see the closed captions of the show that's currently on. But no video though.

The only way to get the video to show up is to go play an existing recording, then I can exit out of that and see what is on live.

This is happening on all the outputs (HDMI, coax, component). Seems to happen when the DVR is currently recording a show, and I'm bringing it out of standby.

Has anyone experienced this?

On a related matter, my 922 will occasionally do this too when I watch through the net...

Any ideas?

Dish suggested I leave the DVR off whenever it isn't being used and that seems to have helped. Once the black screen of death hits, you can try using swap, PiP or other tricks but usually I just have to reboot.
