Black VIP622??

Does Dish offer a black set top box or just the silver? It looks retarded in my AV shelf with everything being black. Or has anyone attempted to paint their 622. And yes I do own mine so I wouldn't think warranty would be an issue. Thanks.

Every once in a while someone asks about this.

Nope, no black 622s are around. Unless you find a way to make one black.

You could always use a fine sandpaper to lightly scratch the surface and then paint it.

Yeah, somewhere around 2002, the "people who decide what color things should be" picked silver as the new choice for all things consumer-electronic. I despise it, too!

Fortunately, the marketeers are slowly coming back around to black. This past year, for example, many/most of the flat screen TV sets are now in black again!!! Hurray! Now if only Dish would get the same message.

Someone painted their Dish receiver, though I don't believe it was a 622. Seems it was maybe a year ago or more where there was a thread with the steps the person did, pictures, etc, etc. It may have been at AVS but I'm thinking it was here. It was a VERY nice job the person did too.

If you are using the UHF remote, you could try putting a piece of dark smoked glass/plastic in front of it.
