BJ's Goes Blu-ray Exclusive

BJ's Wholesale Club, which operates membership warehouses similar to CostCo and Sam's Club, will be supporting Blu-ray exclusively at all 173 locations by the fourth quarter, according to sources. Though, they will continue to sell HD DVD products on their website. This move comes only days after Target announced their support for Blu-ray, and shows the growing trend of retailers supporting Blu-ray exclusively.

Sony is going hard for Christmas business.

This is not an exclusive move because they still support HD-DVD online. However, it is putting BD more in the face of J6P and as we all know, perception is what really pushes product. J6P is going to see BD all over the place this XMAS. Maybe the BD crowd can come out with a sub-$300 player for XMAS and really push their market share!

So they're going to stop selling the only HD player (either format) they currently carry, and carry the Blu-Ray player. And (maybe?) start carrying BR or HD movies?

I'll believe it when I see it. Either way, waste of $45 membership fee. :)

Sorry, I've been upset at BJ's for a while. Long lines, they removed the pharmacy, no bags, etc. Just not a good place to shop.
