I was on vacation in New Mexico and spotted this BirdView at a Hotel in Cuba, New Mexico.

I could not tell for sure if they were using it but if anyone is close to Cuba, New Mexico it might be worth asking about it.

I seem to remember thinking they could not be using it because it was pointing NORTH!

Here are a couple PIX.

I know where there are 2 Birdviews less than 3 miles from my house.(East Texas)
Hate to see them just going to waste.

Looks to be in very good condition. At first glance I thought the mount looked kind of odd till I realized it is just run quite a ways to the "west".

Maybe they are using it as a wifi link for their "Free Wireless Internet"? ;)

the real thing:

- great find !

- the pole looks parallel to the door frame, so it may still be plumb...?

- that's the original LNBF on it, so there's about no chance in hell it's in use any more

- 'tis rare to see one on a long pole.
My 6 inch tube is 10' overall (3' down, 7' up).
That's gotta be 15 feet in the air. (perhaps 5' in the ground?)
So, I'd never dig it out! - Just cut it off and run with it. :)
Of course, getting the 125 (?) pound dish off the mount that high up in the air would be a challenge.
Then, getting the 75 pound (?) motor off the pole, that high up in the air...

edit: weights are estimated after having handled one. If you have more accurate info, please post.
