well, guys, here's a response from Elizabeth Conlisk, who is VP Communications, at the big ten network:

``We are in discussions with several of the largest operators, including Dish. Stay tuned.''

wish i had something more definitive but i, at least, got a quick response that confirmed they are in negotiations which i hope is more than you previously had.

(if a mod wants to merge this thread, please feel free. just thought i'd start a new one. thanks)

those games are broadcast by networks other than the big ten network.

OK. Here is the stupid question of the day and probably has already been answered. Will this be a regional channel or would we all get this one. I am in SEC country but would love to have this channel. The SEC commisioner says he would see how this channels goes before he would look into geting a SEC channel. I would love it.!!!

Well, the SEC is quite protective of their territory. It is not likely they will allow any of their games outside the SEC territory regardless of who carries them except possibly Gameplan.

It remains to be seen what the Big Ten Network allows.

That's not an "update" at all. An "update" would be *different* news than what's been reported over and over. FWIW, the negotiations have, by all sources, not been going well at all.

as far as i know, its a national channel. hopefully, when dish and the network agree, you folks will get all of the big ten games of the week airing on the network and just not the regional ones. and, hopefully, you'll get the HD version of the network.

Related question: can someone with a two-week guide look on their FSN-HD EPG for next Saturday, 9/1/2007 at 10pm EDT, and see if the USC/Idaho game is there.

When I ask about the network. I am asking about the hd version. Who cares anymore about watching football or anything else in sd. I hope you are right about it being a national channel and now Dish needs to get this channel!!!

Another question. If my fox sports channel has the Idaho and Southern Cal in sd. Should I get it in hd also?? I am in the south. Is there enogh bandwith to do this throughout the country for everyone??

I DO, because I don't have a HDTV yet. There still are people who still watch only SD.

i know in the case of directv, they will broadcast all of the SD and HD games on the schedule. the HD won't start next weekend but will as soon as directv10 is operational.

i can't speak for dish because i don't know what's going on......that might be more of a scott question because he knows people at dish.

i would think the big ten network would like carriers to broadcast all of the games on the schedule. but i believe i read on their website, it might be a carrier decision.

here's the skinny on Dish and BTN.....
EchoStar Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:DISH) and its DISH Network(r) satellite TV service today announced the latest Big Ten college football broadcast schedules are now available at DISH Network, which will be updated regularly. DISH Network will carry almost all of the Big Ten and other NCAA conference football and basketball games currently scheduled on CSTV, CBS and NBC, as well as ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.

There are a few Big Ten non-conference games (e.g. Citadel vs. Wisconsin) that air on the Big Ten Network (BTN). For several months, DISH Network has been diligently negotiating with BTN to obtain a carriage agreement consistent with other regional sports networks, but BTN wants unreasonable and inconsistent payments from all of our customers regardless of whether or not they are Big Ten fans. The good news is that DISH Network customers who are Big Ten fans will get most of their games with the current channels available on DISH Network.

DISH Network realizes how important these games are to our customers (we're fans too!), and will continue to work to provide the best in college and all sports, at the best value anywhere. In the meantime, we are keeping the door open in the hopes we can conclude a reasonable deal with BTN.

SO that's that....Those DISH subs who want BTN will have to elsewhere..

its the same ploy some of the cable companies did last year when they didn't sign the NFL network. you folks deal with dish more than i do. i was going to say i don't necessarily see that as them saying they aren't going to carry the network......especially, in light of the BTN statement!

I see, so people who live in SEC country, in theory, would be able to get get BTN FOR FREE, 10 cents is FREE in my book, and get the SEC channel for full price. At the same time BigTen Country people would be charged full price for BTN and not get the SEC channel. Yeah, that's fair.

Why did the CSR tell me the 722 is inferior to the 622?

Question re: upgrading 622 to 722
