BHN and massive internet speed for about 20 minutes:

Well BHN must have had a problem because I went to download a copy of the latest Fedora Core DVD iso and I started the download and left the computer knowing it would take about an hour until my download manager made its finishing type noise in less than 5 minutes. I looked at the log of the speed and I noticed that I was downloading at a rate of 5216KBps (I said bytes not bits per second) and because my download manager splits the download into 5 different sections I noticed that all sections were downloading the file at about 1 megabyte per second.

I for the heck of it tried to download another file and I'm still getting around 3400KB/s. I'm going to stop download after this one file because I don't want to take the whole system down because that is just way too fast to not have something happen. My problem was that the download had to stop at times to allow my hard drive to copy the data because my hard drive and/or netword card couldn't handle everything real time.

Well, you must have taken it down because an entire OC-192 circuit with Level 3 went down at 1:52AM. :D

They have been working for several hours to fix it.

If you were routed through 65.32.8.129 you got out

If you got routed through 65.32.8.130 it failed.

That was about the time my internet went out. I guess I did take it down. I did manage to download for the last two minutes at a rate of 16 (around this point) Megabytes per second and about two minutes of that and everything crashed. Well oops but they can't blame me for this because its not my fault that they failed to cap my modem. Because I was downloading the linux distro via a torrent that also meant that I became a seeder using upload speeds around 20 megabits per second. I think the upload might have killed the system more than the download.

Well my modem speed is only pumping out 2Mbps down for now. It should go back to the advertised speed of about 5Mbps within the next few days.
